Glossary

Moving a limb at the joint away from the midline of the body.

Moving a limb at the joint towards the midline of the body.

To connect.

Situated towards the front of the body. In other words if a structure is nearer the front of the body than another we say it is anterior.

Bones articulate where they meet at a joint.

Nearer the inside of the body or more internal.

This term is only used when describing limbs. It means to be further away from the midline of the body.

Equivalent to posterior.

Extension at the ankle or wrist joint.

Turning the foot onto the medial edge so that the sole is pointing outwards and upwards.
